Coursework

"What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning." —Chuck Grassley

Introduction

Media V.I.E.W

In the Fall 2022 semester, I enrolled myself into 'Public Information Media Campaigns' course and was tasked with creating a campaign about a topic relevant to me. I chose media literacy and combatting negative attitudes towards combatting fake news. This is the final product.

Media V.I.E.W is a campaign I have designed to assist in media literacy issues and to combat negative attitudes regarding "fake news". We verify intentionally every word so that checking the facts becomes second nature.

Theory of Change

Any campaign needs a mission to stand on. I created this Theory of Change with my goals in mind so that I remained on the right track throughout my progress.

In an effort to make my campaign achievable, I set three realistic goals for myself that I wanted to meet at the conclusion of running it.

Challenges

Whilst completing research, I concluded on three main challenges I wanted to combat when trying to appeal to young adult students.

Data

Stanford University History Education Group's research assisted my official findings listed in my final report. I quickly referenced some of their key findings for my class.

Using theories and models covered earlier in the semester, I referenced ELM as my first which I would use in my appeal. I created the graphic as one of my media postings.

Expanding on my theories and models, I chose Social Cognitive Theory as my second which I would use in my appeal. I created the graphic as one of my media postings using a well known and liked celebrity and company which would get people's attention and concern.

Examples

I created three additional graphics to show what can be published as part of my campaign. You will find consistencies in colors and icons to keep it simple to not overwhelm viewers.
