Coursework

Media V.I.E.W.

During the Fall 2022 semester, I was enrolled in a course, Public Information Media Campaigns, that allowed me the chance to create a campaign built on a topic important to me. I chose media literacy as my focus area. I would combat negative attitudes toward fake news while utilizing the skills and methods learned. This is the final product.

Theory of Change

Any campaign needs a mission to stand on. I created this Theory of Change with my goals in mind so that I remained on the right track throughout my progress.

Elaboration Likelihood Model

Using theories and models covered earlier in the semester, I referenced ELM as my first which I would use in my appeal. I created the graphic as one of my media postings.

Goals

In an effort to make my campaign achievable, I set three realistic goals for myself that I wanted to meet at the conclusion of running it.

Data

Stanford University History Education Group's research assisted my official findings listed in my final report. I quickly referenced some of their key findings for my class.

Social Cognitive Theory

Expanding on my theories and models, I chose Social Cognitive Theory as my second which I would use in my appeal. I created the graphic as one of my media postings using a well known and liked celebrity and company which would get people's attention and concern.

I created three additional graphics to show what can be published as part of my campaign. You will find consistencies in colors and icons to keep it simple to not overwhelm viewers.

Media V.I.E.W is a campaign I have designed to assist in media literacy issues and to combat negative attitudes regarding "fake news". We verify intentionally every word so that checking the facts becomes second nature.

Problems + Relevancy

I detailed the main issue with this topic then discussed its' relevancy to traditionally aged college students pursuing a degree in Communications.
